Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue...

Happy Valentines Day to all you lovers out there! Did you write a heart felt poem or love letter to your sweet heart? Or do you plan to pick up some flowers, make a lavish dinner, and spend some cherished time with the one you love? I should hope so! It's your loved ones that help support you through all of life's ups and downs; and they are the ones that will continue to motivate you when you hit those walls on your health and fitness journey. We all spend a lot of energy on the people we love. We go out of our way to help them when they are in need. But on this Valentine's Day, I want to know how much you actually love yourself? When people come to me asking for help to lose weight or regain their strength, I will often ask them how they got to the undesired place they are today and 9 out of 10 times they tell me that life just got too busy. They will tell me "I used to be in good shape in college and then I had kids, got into a career, and I was always busy trying to please my boss or making sure my family was happy." Don't get me wrong, you have to do those things that make your boss and your family happy, but don't you think you should schedule in some quality time for the things that make you happy? If you don't schedule the time, then who will? If you aren't happy and you don't feel love for yourself, then how are you supposed to spread love to those around you? We all have things we don't like about ourselves, whether it be our body, our financial situation, relationship status, you name it. So on this Valentine's Day I want you to commit to spread love to those around you, those that support you, and motivate you to get out of bed in the morning. But I also want you to commit to give more love to yourself within. Spend time with YOU! If you schedule time to yourself and someone asks you for something during that time, politely decline and keep the commitment to yourself. YOU are not something that should be put on the back burner! Light the fire and happiness within and then it will eventually overflow to all those around you. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
