Good Times Had And More To Come!

Updated: Feb 15, 2023

It's been a while since I've sent out a newsletter, and its because things have been busy!

Ohana Backyard Bash Obstacle Race

Along with help from the Hawaii Spartan Ohana, we finally held our first obstacle course race. I say "finally" because we originally planned to have this race last August and due to the State moving into a second shutdown, we had to postpone the event. Unlike many other events, there was no way we were going to cancel! If we said we're going to do something, then we'll make it happen at all costs, AND WE DID and it turned out to be a fantastic event!

Among the standard obstacles such as wall climb, tire flip, rope climb, we also through in some new (and awkward) obstacles such as "concrete feet" and "beach ballin'), which made for lots of laughs!

We're looking to make this an annual event so stay tuned.

Breath, Strength, Mind Workshop

Our next Breath, Strength, Mind workshop will be held on May 29, back at the beautiful Tradewinds Ranch in Hau'ula. This workshop is for runners, surfer, freedivers, swimmers, and basically anyone looking to improve their performance by learning proper breathing mechanics. In addition, we'll cover things like how to build grit and mental toughness; conduct some fun and challenging pool exercises, and then end it with a nice dip in the ice bath! Check out a few of the pics from our last workshop and then go to bit.ly/breathstrengthmind to sign-up.

Hawaii Spartan Trifecta Weekend

Lastly, the Hawaii Spartan Trifecta Weekend is fast approaching, so we've started up group training once again. At these training events you'll learn how to conquer the various obstacles, build strength, and increase your endurance, so you can withstand the long hill climbs and heavy carries Spartan will undoubtedly throw at you.

Training events are held every other Saturday at Maunawilli Valley Neighborhood Park at 9am. No commitment necessary, these are donation based training events, so come try it out and see if you like it.

However, training only once per week won't get you in the shape you need to be in order to cross that finish line. So if you are signed up for the race in August and you need a training plan to follow as we lead up to the race, then contact me and let's make it happen. I will design you a customized program based on your current strength, endurance, and ability that will ensure you not only cross the finish line, but cross with a smile!
